Little Crossroads Terms of Service

Introduction & Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Little Crossroads! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Little Crossroads (the "Game"). By installing, accessing, or playing the Game, you agree that you have read, understood, and accept these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not play or use the Game.

Little Crossroads is a multiplayer indie game available through the Steam and Epic Games Store platforms. This Terms of Service is a legal agreement between you (the player) and the developers of Little Crossroads ("we" or "us"). You must also abide by any rules and terms of the platform (Steam or Epic) through which you access the Game, as explained below.

Age Requirements

You must be 13 years of age or older to play Little Crossroads. The Game is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly permit children younger than 13 to use it. If you are between 13 and 17 years old (or under the age of legal majority in your region), please review these Terms with a parent or legal guardian. By using the Game, you affirm that you meet the minimum age requirement and, if you are a minor, that your parent or guardian has read and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

Accounts and Third-Party Services

Little Crossroads does not use its own internal account system. Instead, you log in and play using your Steam or Epic Games Store account. You must have a valid account on one of these platforms to access the Game, and your use of Little Crossroads is also subject to the terms and conditions of that platform (such as the Steam Subscriber Agreement or Epic Games Store Terms). We have no control over your Steam/Epic account, so make sure you follow their rules as well.

Online features of Little Crossroads (including multiplayer sessions, matchmaking, friends lists, and chat) rely on services provided by Steam or Epic. Please be aware that the Game’s performance and availability may depend on these third-party services. We are not responsible for outages or downtime caused by Steam/Epic, and any limitations, bans, or issues with your platform account may affect your ability to play Little Crossroads. (For example, if your Steam/Epic account is suspended by the platform, you could lose access to our Game as well.) We are not liable for the consequences of any third-party service failures or your inability to access the Game due to issues with those services.

Player Conduct and Community Guidelines

When you play Little Crossroads online, you are joining a community of players. We ask that you behave respectfully and responsibly. By engaging in multiplayer sessions, you agree to follow these community guidelines and avoid any harassing or abusive behavior:

  • Be Respectful: Treat all other players with respect and courtesy. Harassment, bullying, personal attacks, or threatening other players is not allowed.

  • No Hate Speech or Discrimination: Do not use language or share content that is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or discriminatory toward any group. Hate speech and slurs have no place in Little Crossroads.

  • Keep it Appropriate: Avoid sharing obscene, sexually explicit, or extremely graphic content or language in the Game. Excessive profanity or offensive material is prohibited, especially in public chat visible to others.

  • No Cheating or Exploits: Play fairly. Do not use cheats, hacks, mods, automation, or exploit bugs/glitches to gain an unfair advantage or to disrupt the game experience for others. If you discover a bug, please report it rather than abusing it.

  • No Spamming or Advertising: Don’t spam chat with repetitive messages, and don’t advertise unrelated products, services, or external websites in the game. This includes not posting links to dangerous or inappropriate content.

  • Follow Platform Rules: Adhere to the community standards of Steam or Epic Games as well. If the platform’s rules or code of conduct are stricter or have additional requirements, you must follow those while playing Little Crossroads.

Enforcement: Little Crossroads does not have a centralized moderation or global reporting system of its own. However, players have tools to manage their experience. If someone is violating these guidelines, you may block that player or (if you are the host of a session) kick them from your game. Repeated or serious violations can also be addressed through the platform’s reporting mechanisms (e.g., reporting a player on Steam/Epic). We reserve the right to take appropriate action against accounts that seriously violate these Terms or create a harmful environment, including restricting or terminating access to the Game, if such action is within our capability (for example, through platform enforcement). Remember that maintaining a positive community is a shared responsibility—please do your part to make Little Crossroads enjoyable for everyone.

User-Generated Content and Communication

Little Crossroads allows players to communicate freely via in-game chat, emotes, voice (if applicable), and other interactions. This means you and other players can create user-generated content in the form of messages, usernames, and other communications. We do not pre-screen or actively monitor what players say or share in real-time. As a result, you might encounter chat messages or content from other players that are inappropriate or offensive. Online interactions are not moderated by us, and we are not responsible for the content of player communications.

By using the Game, you agree that you are responsible for any content you share or behavior you exhibit. Do not share anything that violates these Terms, the law, or the rights of others. This includes messages, custom names, or any other material you introduce into the game environment. We are not liable for any user-generated content — the things players say and do are solely the responsibility of those individuals, not the developers of Little Crossroads. We do not endorse or verify the accuracy of player communications.

We strongly urge you to exercise caution in your interactions. Do not reveal personal information (like your full name, address, phone number, or financial details) in-game. If you feel another player's content or behavior is inappropriate or violates these Terms, use the in-game tools (block/mute/kick) or the platform’s reporting features to protect yourself and inform the platform. While we are not obligated to moderate user content, we reserve the right to review and take action on any content or behavior within Little Crossroads if it comes to our attention (for example, removing offensive material through updates, or coordinating with Steam/Epic to address severe misconduct). However, due to the decentralized nature of the game’s online sessions, immediate moderation is largely in the hands of players through the provided tools. By playing Little Crossroads, you acknowledge and accept that user-generated content is a part of the experience and that the developers are not responsible for what other players say or do.

In-Game Purchases

At this time, Little Crossroads does not offer any in-game purchases or microtransactions. Once you have purchased the game through Steam or Epic Games Store, you have access to all current content and features in the Game. There are no loot boxes, premium currencies, or extra content packs to buy within the game.

We currently have no plans to add in-game purchases. If this policy ever changes and we introduce optional purchases or downloadable content in the future, we will update these Terms and inform players of the new features. You can enjoy Little Crossroads knowing that everything in the game is earned through gameplay, and you won’t be asked to spend additional money beyond the initial game purchase.

Game Updates and Changes

We are committed to improving Little Crossroads and may release updates or patches from time to time. These updates can include bug fixes, performance improvements, balance adjustments, new content, or changes to existing features. Most updates will be delivered automatically via the Steam or Epic platform. You may be required to install the latest update to continue accessing online features or multiplayer.

Please understand that the game experience may evolve over time. We reserve the right to add, modify, or remove features or content in Little Crossroads at our discretion. For example, we might adjust game mechanics for balance, introduce new game modes, or disable certain features that are no longer viable. We will do our best to communicate significant changes to players (for instance, through update notes or announcements on our official pages). However, some changes or downtime may occur without prior notice, especially if urgent (such as critical bug fixes or legal compliance updates).

We also reserve the right to discontinue or end the availability of the Game (or its online services) in the future, though we hope to support Little Crossroads for a long time. If we ever plan to shut down multiplayer services or the game itself, we will attempt to give players advance notice through official channels. Keep in mind that changes to the game are intended to improve the experience or maintain the service, and while we understand that sudden changes can be frustrating, we are not liable for any inconvenience or loss caused by the modification or removal of game features.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Little Crossroads is provided "as is" and "as available." While we strive to create a fun, enjoyable, and stable experience, we do not make any guarantees that the Game will be flawless or meet your expectations. No warranty of any kind is given regarding the Game. For example, we do not guarantee that Little Crossroads will run without errors or bugs, that online features will be uninterrupted, or that the Game will be compatible with every system configuration. You use the Game at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties and conditions, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of Liability: Under no circumstances will the Little Crossroads developers be liable for any losses or damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Game. This includes indirect or consequential damages such as lost data, lost profits, lost gameplay progress, or emotional distress, as well as any direct damages beyond the amount you may have paid to purchase the Game. We are not responsible for problems beyond our control, including but not limited to: issues caused by the Steam or Epic services, internet or network failures, hardware malfunctions on your device, or the conduct of other players in the game. By using the Game, you acknowledge that no software is perfect and that you will not hold us accountable for things like unforeseen technical glitches or the actions/content of other users.

If you are dissatisfied with the Game or experience any issues, your sole remedy is to stop using the Game. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of liability for certain types of damages. If your local laws provide you with specific rights or remedies that cannot be waived, then those laws take precedence over any conflicting provisions in this section. In such cases, our liability will be limited to the maximum extent allowed by law. Nothing in these Terms is intended to override any non-waivable rights you might have under local law. Essentially, we are providing Little Crossroads in good faith, but we cannot accept liability for issues beyond repairing or updating the Game software itself.

Changes to These Terms

We may update or modify these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes, we will post the revised Terms on our official website or notify you through the game/platform (for example, via a news update on Steam or Epic). The "last updated" date at the top of the Terms (if provided) will indicate when the latest changes were made. It is your responsibility to review the Terms periodically for any updates.

Continued use of Little Crossroads after an update to the Terms constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree with a change or revision, you should stop playing the game. We recommend checking these Terms occasionally so you stay informed about any important changes. We value our players and will strive to make Terms updates clear and reasonable. Major changes that significantly affect your rights or obligations will be communicated as clearly as possible.
